2017 Youth Art Month

The Youth Art Month Celebration will be here before we know it!!!

Dear Fellow Kansas Art Educators:
It's time to celebrate our profession and our 
student's accomplishments.
Please join the Kansas Art Education Association for our 

Annual Youth Art Month Celebration
 Saturday, February 25, 1:00-2:30 pm 

at the 
Topeka State Capital, 2nd floor
Please park and enter through the North Side.
ALL KANSAS ART EDUCATORS:
Every Art Teacher in the state of Kansas is eligible to enter one work of art from one student in every school that you teach in. Please plan on participating by honoring ONE of your students from each building in which you teach by exhibiting their artwork at the Youth Art Month Celebration at the capital buildingLabels for the artwork and an invitation can be printed from our website: http://kaea.com/yam.html 

There are area YAM representatives listed on the website that are willing to take your artwork to Topeka for you.  
Simply contact them for delivery.  
*OR you can deliver your art work in person on February 24th, from 4-8 pm to the Clubhouse Inn in Topeka.  
*OR if that does not work, we will accept artwork by 8:00 am at the state capitol on Saturday, February 25th.

KAEA MEMBERS:  

As part of your KAEA members benefit we would like to invite member teachers to submit your students work to the 
for the KAEA Youth Art Month Celebration!  Each teacher is allowed to enter three pieces of art work from each building they teach in.  You may submit up to three pictures for one piece of 3D work.  Along with the photos, please clearly label each piece with:
Student Name, Teacher Name, School Name, Title of Work, MediaYou must also submit an "artist release form" for each student.  This can be found on the YAM page on the website (left side). 
Please note, artwork submitted to the virtual gallery should be different from the one piece of physical artwork you bring to the YAM celebration in Topeka.  Please e-mail artwork & a digital copy of the form to: Kate Miller

"Youth Art Month Art Competition"
KAEA Members' students are also eligible to win first, second and third place prizes in the elementary, middle and secondary
levels provided by Sargent Art, Nasco and Molly Hawkins. One student will be awarded a Best of Show award courtesy of Sargent Art. This year the Best of Show recipient will receive a $1500.00 cash prize!!

"NAEA Kansas Youth Art Month Exhibit"
Teachers are invited to submit student work for exhibit at the National Convention in New York City.  Please send one or two digital images of your student's artwork that you would like have included in our state's exhibit.  Please include: your name, student's name, school name, student's grade level, title of work, and media.

Send images no later than February 17th to:

Please edit (crop, color adjust, etc.) your images as you would like them to print.


Kansas Youth Art MONTH Celebrations (All Educators)

Help Kansas celebrate the visual arts by putting up an art display in your school, a school board meeting or somewhere in your community. Make sure that you mention that March is Youth Art MonthAdd some advocacy materials and put up the National Visual Arts Standards. Call your local paper or add something to your school website, newsletter, or newspaper.  Get some coverage for your students and your art program....
be your own best advocate!
