2014 Kansas Youth Art Month Celebration

The Kansas Youth Art Month Celebration is fast approaching!
Please plan on participating by honoring ONE of your students by entering their art work into the State Capitol Exhibit sponsored by Sargent Art.

The celebration takes place on
March 1st, 2014
from 2-3:30

All of the information and forms that you will need can be found at

It's not too late to get your art work to us!
*There are area YAM representatives listed on the website that are willing to take your art work to Topeka for you.  Simply contact them for delivery.
*OR you can deliver your art work in person on February 28th from 4-8 pm to the
Clubhouse Inn in Topeka.
*OR if that does not work, we will accept art work by 8:00 am at the state capitol on March 1st.

KAEA Members:
Remember you can also enter an additional work of art into the KAEA Virtual YAM Gallery.
Send those entries to Kate Miller at kmiller@usd415.org
In the subject line, put Virtual Gallery.  Include a jpeg of the art work (1 for 2-D work and up to 3 for 3-D work from different angles), student name, grade, art work title, medium, school name and your name.
We will choose three entries to win prizes and some of the virtual gallery entries will be printed, matted and displayed at the National Youth Art Month Gallery in San Diego during the NAEA Convention.

Youth Art MONTH
Help Kansas celebrate the visual arts by putting up an art display in your school, a school board meeting or somewhere in your community.  Make sure that you mention that March is Youth Art Month.  Add some advocacy materials and put up the National Visual Arts Standards.  Call your local paper or add something to your school website, newsletter, or newspaper.  Get some coverage for your students and your art program....be your own best advocate!  Share all of your accomplishments with us by documenting what you have done and send that information to Megan Wendleton at meganwendleton@hotmail.com so that we can include you in our YAM report.

Lastly, I would like to thank all of you who spend countless hours encouraging Kansas kids to embrace their inner artists.  YOU are making a difference in student's lives!
Let's Celebrate Youth Art Month together!!
Creative Vibes and Happy Art Making!
